Jennifer was wrongly diagnosed and treated for STDs for four (4) years.
In 2017, she was referred to National hospital Abuja for further cancer treatment known as (chemotherapy and radiotherapy) . She couldn’t afford it but nevertheless, she visited the hospital, unfortunately for her, the radiotherapy machine was faulty at that time.
Cervical Cancer is a Menace in Nigeria and a large number of women are ignorant of the disease. Due to ignorance most cervical cancer cases are presented very late of which the cost to treat the disease at late presentation is very exuberant and most Nigerian women can’t afford it thereby leading to untimely death. “EARLY DETECTION OF CANCER SAVE LIVES”. The disease is predominant in the north according to our statistical findings.
The Cervix
The cervix is the lower, narrow part of the uterus (womb). It is part of a female reproductive system and it connects the uterus to the vagina.
We are on a mission to lead a fight against cervical cancer through awareness creation, screening, provision of vaccines, and medical treatment.
Awareness and Prevention
Uncovering the existence of cervical cancer, illuminating the various risks factors, and creating awareness on the line of action needed to be taken by all women irrespective of age.
Free Counseling and Screening
Ensuring all women in Nigeria are informed about the scourge and provide free access to counseling and screening.
Vaccine Availability
Ensuring the availability of vaccines with the aim of substantially reducing the incidence of cervical cancer in Nigeria as well as other Preventive measures.
What we do
Partnership
Our targets for the year 2022 is to have 30% of young girls of about 15-18 of age fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine, 30% of women screened using an automated machine by age 30 again at 40, also 30% of women with pre/invasive cancer treated or manage in the center.
Partnerships are critical to Sali Hoe Foundation’s control efforts. For us to achieve a successful ECCC programme we need committed partners who will contribute their resources and expertise to the activities of the programme.
